How to get there

Maui’s main airport is Kahului Airport (OGG). There are smaller commuter airports in Kapalua (JHM) and Hana (HNM). All of the major US airports have daily flights to OGG directly.

  • Hawaii Standard Time (GMT -10 hours), 5 hours behind the US East Coast, and 6 hours behind during Daylight Saving Time.
  • English is a widely spoken language, together with native Hawaiian.
  • You can pay with US dollars wherever you go and credit cards are widely accepted.
  • Average temperature is 75 – 85 F.
  • If you’re planning a trip to the summit of Haleakala, Maui’s Highest point, don’t forget to pack some warm clothes. You can expect temperatures in the 40s or lower while watching the sunrise.
  • While a light jacket will be useful, leave your suits and ties at home. You will hardly see anyone wearing them.
  • If you want to be more mobile, you can rent a car at Kahului Airport or Kapalua Airport. Taxis or city buses are available anywhere.
