Awesomeness Fest FAQs

Hey Tribe!

Over the last few weeks we’ve been getting a ton of questions from those of you attending (or thinking of attending) Awesomeness Fest.

To help you out, I’ve compiled some of your most frequently asked questions for you here.

Where is Awesomeness Fest 2011 taking place?

Grand WaileaAwesomeness Fest 2011 is taking place at the beautiful Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, Hawaii.

Voted as one of the best resorts and spas on the island, the Grand Wailea is a blissful Hawaiian sanctuary nested within 40 tropical acres and just steps away from a white sandy beach.

This luxury resort offers a colorful variety of activities and amenities to suit everyone. From relaxing massages in their world-class spa, to a game of golf at one of their three championship courses, the Grand Wailea has it all.

What can I expect at Awesomeness Fest?

If you’re expecting a traditional seminar, you’re in for a surprise. Awesomeness Fest is an event that brings together people who are by nature, driven to change the world. Entrepreneurs, authors, teachers, mavericks, artists and visionaries, at Awesomeness Fest, you’ll get powerful training, profound mind shifts, groundbreaking ideas, deep connections and unique opportunities to give back, so you can play an even bigger game and significantly expand your ability to accomplish bold things. While you can still expect mind-blowing stage presentations from some of the top names in marketing, entrepreneurship and personal development the event is definitely not lacking in unconventional and crazy fun experiences.

Who is speaking at the event?

Lisa NicholsWe are in the process of finalizing the speaking roster. While we want to keep the identity of our speakers a surprise, we can tell you that we’ve got some of the top thought leaders and entrepreneurs in online marketing, personal development, fitness and spirituality joining us. You can expect about 25 speakers, a handful of which will be our keynoters delivering content rich 1-hour presentations. The keynote speakers are listed on the site here. The remaining speakers will have 20 minutes to give a short “Ted Talk Style” presentation where they share their most powerful and ground-breaking idea.

How much are event tickets?

Tickets are running at an Advanced Registration price that WILL go up as the event draws nearer. To find out the current price of Awesomeness Fest 2011 tickets, please apply for your exclusive invite. Shortly afterwards, you will receive a call from a member of our team who will give you all the information you need on ticket price and special rates.

Where do I get a ticket?

All you need to do to secure your spot at Awesomeness Fest 2011 in Maui is apply for your exclusive invite here. Shortly afterwards, you will receive a call from a member of our team for an interview. If all goes well, you’ll be able to register immediately for the event.

Can I bring my spouse or loved one to the event?

Yes, of course. We welcome all attendees to invite their spouses to the event. If you’ve had a successful interview, your spouse can register immediately at the same ticket price. Simply notify our team after your interview that you’d like to secure a ticket for your spouse as well.

Can I bring my kids to the event? How much are junior tickets?

Awesomeness Fest 2010Awesomeness Fest is a totally family friendly event. Last year, we had attendees bring their new-born infants to the event. We welcome kids of all ages! The best part is, children 12 and under get to attend for free! Kids 13-17 get a ticket at 50% off. Kids 18 and up require a full price ticket. If you’ve had a successful interview, you can register your children immediately. Simply notify our team after your interview that you’d like to secure a ticket(s) for your children as well.

How many days is the event?

The event is a jam-packed full 4 days running from November 3 – 6. Since registration starts early on the 3rd and the event ends late on the 6th, we recommend flying into Maui no later than the 2nd and departing Maui no earlier than the 7th.

What’s the start time/end time of the event?

The event will start each day at 9:30am sharp and end each day around 6pm. However, we have events planned for the all attendees each evening. So don’t make any plans for the evenings. You can expect a lot of fun well into the night! For all off-site evening events, we’ll have transportation back to the hotel every hour so you can head back to the hotel whenever suits you best!

How much free time can I expect?

Amazing ExperiencesThe short answer is very little. You’ll have an hour or so after each day to relax, eat, meditate, shower, etc. before the evening events begin. Of course, it’s completely optional whether you’d like to attend or not, but I can assure you, you don’t want to miss out. We have some amazing experiences planned that are included in the event ticket price. If you’re looking for more free time on the island, I recommend coming early or staying after the event in Maui.

What should I bring with me?

The most important thing is a positive attitude and the willingness to have a lot of fun! For what to pack in your suit case, don’t worry, we’ll be sending out a packing guide for your convenience closer to the event.

What is the dress code?

Beachy Chic.

During the day, you’ll want to wear something comfy and casual. Something you can move in! While we recommend beachy clothing so you can catch a few rays during breaks, you might want to make sure you have a cardigan or sweatshirt to wear during the seminar as the conference room will be air conditioned and it could get chilly.

BeachyIn the evening, pretty much anything goes! Dresses, jeans, hula skirt and coconuts… it’s up to you! Again, please be sure to pack a sweater or light jacket for our evening excursions as it can get pretty chilly once the sun goes down and we will be spending quite a bit of time outdoors.

This is a totally flip-flop friendly event! Ladies, the evening events will be casual, so no need to pack your heals and gentleman, leave your shiny dress shoes at home.

I hear Afest is a not-for-profit. What foundations/charities will you be supporting?

Awesomeness Fest is a not-for-profit this year. We’re proud to announce the Awesomeness Fest 2011 is donating ALL profits to a number of amazing foundations. The list has not yet been finalized but the 2 main beneficiaries will be the Pachamama Alliance and Shine On Sierra Leone.

The Pachamama Alliance, founded by Lynne Twist, is a foundation dedicated to preserving over 8 million acres of rainforest in the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Shine On Sierra Leone is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to introducing groundbreaking education, healthcare, micro-financing, sustainable building, and agriculture programs to the communities of Sierra Leone and it’s people.

Both Lynne and Tiffany will be joining us at Awesomeness Fest this year.

What airport should I fly into?

When flying to Maui, please fly to Kahului Airport (OGG).

What’s the best way to get to the hotel from the airport?

You have 4 options to get from Kahului Airport to the Grand Wailea Resort.

  • Shuttle.
  • Taxi.
  • Grand Wailea Airport Shuttle Service.
  • Rent A Car.

  • What are the room rates?

We’ve secured a block of discounted rooms at the Grand Wailea for Awesomeness Fest 2011 attendees. The regular room rate normally starts at $379,  but as an AFest 2011 guest, you’ll be able to secure a room for up to 40% off.

Rooms are first-come, first-serve and we’ve only got 135 rooms on reserve. Rooms booked after our block sells out may be reserved at a higher rate per night subject to availability. PLEASE BOOK YOUR ROOM BEFORE OCTOBER 17th, 2011. After this date, the discounted rate is not guaranteed.

How do I book my hotel?

Immediately after registering for the event, you’ll receive an email with all the details you need to book your room at the Grand Wailea.

What date range do the room rates apply?

Since we realize that you might want to take advantage of your time in Maui and spend a few extra days on the island, we’ve made sure this discounted room rate is valid for the 3 days prior to and 3 days after the event :)

Can I stay at another hotel nearby?

Of course, you are free to stay wherever you’d like during Awesomeness Fest, however, we highly recommend you choose the Grand Wailea. Here’s why:

Grand WaileaAlthough there are other hotels in the area, you will not be able to find a hotel with better rates than what we negotiated at the Grand Wailea. We made sure to get Awesomeness Fest 2011 attendees the absolute best rates available in the area for the days leading up to, during and after the event.

Another reason we encourage all guests to take advantage of the discounted rooms at the Grand Wailea is for your convenience. As you know, Awesomeness Fest is not a typical seminar that ends at 6pm every evening. While the speakers will finish around that time everyday, we’ve got amazing events planned for after the sun goes down and much of it involves being transported off-site. We’ve arranged transportation to pick guests up and drop guests off at the Grand Wailea. Although we’ve done our best to budget enough time each day after the final speaker for guests to head back to their rooms and prepare for the night out, we can’t promise you won’t be a bit rushed. As you know, events can often run-over and if this is the case, it’d be much easier to jet up to your room to get what you need before pick-up. We’d hate for you to miss the bus because you had to head to another hotel and didn’t make it back in time.

Friday: Party food throughout evening & cash bar. Breakfast, lunch & dinner on your own.

What are the meal options at the hotel?

The hotel has a number of different restaurant options to suit every palette. From exquisite and romantic private cabana dining to a quick bite for lunch at Cafe Kula, the Grand Wailea as it all. For a list of all dining options, go here.

Is their a refrigerator in the room?

Are their fitness facilities at the hotel?

The Grand Wailea has a fully equipped fitness center. For other facilities and guest servies offer, go here.

What is the weather like in Maui in November?

Board MeetingNovember is a transition month between Summer and Winter in Maui. This means the whether typical of both seasons are common. This means there’s a chance of some light rain with an average day-time temperature in the mid 80’s. It will dip down in the evenings, however, so do remember to bring a light jacket or sweater with you.
